Volcanoes and Arenal!!!

Volcanoes can be divided into three common categories stratovolcano, cinder cone, or shield.

Each type of volcano is associated with a certain type of lava.

Volcanoes are usually fed by a large reserve of magma that collects in a large underground cavity called a magma chamber.

Magma is more buoyant than the surrounding rock so it naturally pushes upward.

When the pressure is high enough the magma shoots up through a long shaft.

Geysers are springs that throw boiling water high in the air. They are caused by volcanic heat warming trapped ground water.

I am going to post the theme song for the novela soon. I hope everything is going alright. BYE!!!!!!!!

    Baldi Hot Springs

This weekend we went to Baldi hot springs. Baldi is a thermal pool so it´s heated by water that passes through a volcano which heats it up. Baldi has 25 different pools so it was pretty awesome. It also has 2 water slides and there both really cool but super fast. The videos are of the smaller one because the big one has to many curves to film. The slide looks a lot slower than it actually is. Aside from the slides the hot springs have restaurants where you can sit in the water and eat at a table. There is also an aqua spa and a sauna. It was the coolest hot springs I have ever been to.

    Hi

Hi! Sorry it takes me so long to do anything. These dorky Spanish key boards are confusing me. My dad makes me do all the educational stuff so it’s not really my fault. Costa Rica is a whole different experience. At least my hair didn’t turn green like it did in Mexico (at least it hasn’t yet). I have become attached to a Costa Rican novella on the Disney Channel called Patito Feo. I’ve got the theme song stuck in my head. It’s about middle schoolers so their just a little bit older than us. But, hopefully at our school everybody isn’t falling all over each other crying. My dad being my grammar teacher and it’s getting kind of annoying. There are about ten times more abandoned dogs here as in Colorado it is so sad. People don’t appreciate animals at all here. A few days ago our driver almost ran over a dog and he just laughed. I got to go but I will be posting some videos of people going down one of the most fun water slides of my life. BYE!

National Musuem and the Ruins of Guayabo

This week I went to the National Museum of Costa Rica and the ruins of Guayabo here are my videos and photos. My guide was Edgar. Este semana fue al Museo National de Costa Rica y las ruinas de Guayabo aqui son mis videos y fotos. El nombre de mi guia era Edgar.

Humans have inhabited the forests of Costa Rica for over 10,000 years. For thousand of years there were approximately 20 different Tribes. Each tribe was under the rule of one chief. Archeologists uncovered the only ruins from these people in Costa Rica about 40 miles from San Jose. The ancient city Guayabo is thought to be a ceremonial site that contains paved roads and decorative gold. Though not everything is known about these ancient people some are still trying to understand and hoping they find answers rather than more questions.
